What is discipline for?

By discipline, I meant showing up regularly. But, the most important question is what is it for?

The act of doing something daily even when there is no audience is powerful. It becomes a habit and eventually it will shape our character and personality. Waking up every day 4 am in the morning and going for jogging is a great discipline to have whereas waking up every day at 4 am and watching TV is not a good habit to cultivate. We might as well sleep more instead of watching TV. Similarly, staying up late to help our kids with homework daily is a good discipline to cultivate whereas staying up late to catch up on a television series is not an excellent discipline and we might as well sleep instead.

What are we spending our time on by being disciplined is something we must ask ourselves.
